#ProjectSoCalCasa Renovation Overview & Brand Partner Introduction

Welcome to Project So Cal Casa aka my personal residence in Southwest San Clemente, a laid back beach town in Orange County! We gutted a 1990’s remodel of a 1958 bungalow and brought our own vision of what a home in The Spanish Village by the Sea, aka San Clemente, can look like! With a nod to the modernism roots of this town being built up in the Mid-Century along with honoring the Spanish Village by the Sea ethos of our SoCal town we couldn’t be happier with how it has turned out after almost 3 years of planning and construction, during a pandemic to boot!

Aside from sharing a few dynamic before & after photos below I wanted to introduce you to the brands that I was honored to partnered with in our home! Before we go any further I want to assure you that not only would I partner with each brand again, but I would put them in my home even if we didn’t have a partnership in place!

Who are the #ProjectSoCalCasa brand partners?

JennAir for all appliances in the main house.

Visual Comfort Co for all lighting (not the can lights- I wish I had planned for their architectural lighting)

Brizo partnered with me in the Kitchen, Primary Bathroom, our son’s Wabi Sabi bathroom & our Laundry Room… and for the rest of our home I purchased Brizo faucets from Ferguson Kitchen, Bath and Lighting Showroom in Irvine.

Rewards Flooring partnered with me on our gorgeous wood floors!

Concrete Collaborative partnered with me on the floors and countertops in both our daughter’s Colorful Bathroom & our son’s Wabi Sabi Bathroom. I also selected Concrete Collaborative for our patio pavers & spa waterline tile, coping and surround tile.

Finally, Eskayel partnered with me on the wallpaper you see in our laundry room and primary closet ceiling.

A little backstory on how I partnered with these brands: I asked them to partner with me. That’s right I simply asked to partner with them! Well, maybe it wasn’t just a simple ask.

First, and most importantly, I only approached companies who I intended to purchase their products for our home in the first place. That’s why I’m grateful to say I would select & use these products and brands even without a partnership in place! In fact, I continue to select many of these brand’s products for current client projects.

But back to the partnership process, after explaining my project details - a designer’s own home renovation- I provided photos, renderings and sometimes even videos to concisely present why we would make great partners. Some of the partnerships only came about after my proposal being denied several times before getting approved. Persistence pays off, y’all!

Details on the partnerships are confidential but I can assure you it wasn’t all free everything! #ProjectSoCalCasa brand partnerships were a mixture of discounted products (discount percentages varied) & a small amount of free product.

In return I have a variety deliverables for each brand from photos & videos to blog posts to Instagram shares… basically I get to share my real life story & experience of having each brands’ beautiful products in our home. This is a role I cherish and feel so strongly about being a faithful & vocal partner. But know this, if there were any issues, defects or flaws I would openly share them with you. However, nothing of the sort has occurred, we have lived in our home for almost a year and we are so pleased with each selection. In fact, if you follow me on Instagram I hope your are familiar with me sharing all of these brand names and products already! If not, you are in the right place to learn more about each brand.

I will be sharing each space in our home over the next few weeks! In the mean time check out some of these before & after photos!

BEFORE renovation!

Before our primary bathroom this space was a tiny galley kitchen!

This triangular cutout where the recycle & trash cans are shown, ended up becoming part of our primary bathroom… the arched doorway and clawfoot tub location landed where the brown can set in this photo!
